The Coral Springs Orchid Society, a non-profit organization, is affiliated with the American Orchid Society. It was founded in 1973 by Elliott Mackle and a small group of orchid enthusiasts. The purpose was to meet and discuss orchids, how to buy, grow. and care for them, and to impart this knowledge on orchid lovers in the area, who would join the society or come to meetings. Membership is available to anyone who shows a sincere interest in orchids and who wants to actively participate in the activities of the Coral Springs Orchid Society. Today the society has 120 active members. Whether you have one orchid plant that you love and cherish, or one thousand orchid plants, we invite you to come to our meetings as our guest. Hopefully, you will like what you hear and see and decide to become a member. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month starting at 7:30pm. They are held at Cypress Hammock Park, Community Center, 1300 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs, FL. You can participate in friendly orchid talk, listen to an expert speaker and enjoy some light refreshments. Dues are kept to a minimum and generally cover the expense of the society. Officers are nominated and chosen by the nominating committee and there is a Board of Directors, and a number of trustees. There are many advantages to membership, among them are; Monthly meetings with expert industry speakers, monthly newsletter, library of significant orchid books, plant displays, plant sales, auctions, rambles, raffles, plant awards, and other activities that are presented from time to time.
